Program Overview

The COPE program conducted by the Department of General Surgery, Maharajgunj Medical Campus, Institute of Medicine (IOM) is designed for third year post graduate residents in General Surgery.

It is a three-day surgical discourse conducted at the auditorium of “Suresh Wagle Cancer Center” Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. It seeks to enhance the clinical acumen of surgical graduates by focusing on history taking and case presentation of relevant surgical cases commonly encountered in clinical practice.

The participants will learn directly from faculties across all areas of surgical speciality and the program will include communication, clinical approach and surgical research. The program strives to not only foster competence and understanding but also confidence in its graduates as they prepare for the final exam.

 

Program Objectives

Upon completion of the COPE program participants will be able to:

  1. Develop strategies to take a structured clinical history of the patient.
  2. Demonstrate self-direction and originality in diagnosing surgical cases based on clinical judgement
  3. Present case history appropriately
  4. Enhance skill in clinical examination
  5. Apply skill and knowledge in safe clinical practice.
